My Art Journey
Art is inherently in my DNA. My early encounters with art were life-changing. My grandmother was an award winning "Doll artist", with whom I enjoyed spending my holidays and evenings, playing with the textures and materials that she worked with. Creating and dressing them in costumes from various countries and cultures from around the world was a past-time that inspired me to take up a formal training in Fashion Designing later on. In a parallel world, I was growing up under the guidance of my father, who guided me into the various aspects of meditation, connecting me to the various dimensions of the self, that I grew up knowing as the “inner dimensions”. These lasting impressions have opened up innumerable questions to find out where have we come from and where are we going.
My current series is a connection with my ‘Inner Dimensions’ and ‘Singapore Blooms’ capturing the Zen moments on the canvas. Our mind has the capacity to carry the images that have been extracted through the senses, and stored in our subconscious known as 'memory', similar to a fossil. I try to capture these moments, exploring different materials to create a resonance with my memories, as fossilized impressions interpreted as the ‘fossils of the mind’.
“Art is one of the many mediums of expressing what the senses sees and hears. Art transcends the inner voice of the soul,”
